Words in Watchet
Friday 19th - Sunday 21st February 2027

Come along to our fourth Words in Watchet Festival. We have been planning some delights for you including storytelling, literature talks, poetry and workshops. It’s all happening in Watchet, a sleepy little harbour town on the West Somerset coast.
We are excited to welcome you to our brand-new website. Here, you can explore and book tickets for the 2027 programme, look back at some previous events and find out who your festival committee are!
Our Friday night Storytelling has become an established festival favourite, and this year we bring you Lucy Lill and Sarah Liisa Wilkinson telling The Queen of Between, a story of the many-shaped and multi-tasking goddess, Hecate.
Our Saturday evening Spoken Word event mixes multi-instrumentalist Seb Tesouro putting music to poems of the Quantocks with non-fiction from Aidan Meighan as well as Watchet’s own storyteller Deandra Payne.
We are running some workshops for budding writers including Writing Nature with Elizabeth Delo, this year’s Flash Fiction judge.
For non-fiction aficionados the weekend offers diverse authors such as Charles Dowding of ‘No Dig’ gardening fame, Michael Turner expert on Sir Francis Drake, or perhaps you might enjoy sharing Sunday lunch with 21st century yokel Tom Cox, Sunday Times bestselling author of Everything Will Swallow You.
Keep checking. More events will be added as they are confirmed. Many of our events are held in smaller venues and you don’t want to miss your new favourite author!
Our Competitions will be launched in September.
