Words in Watchet always seeks to celebrate the Spoken Word. This year our dedicated Spoken Word Performance melds prose, poetry, storytelling, and includes music.

Join us at the West Somerset Hotel to enjoy an eclectic mix of words and music:

To begin the evening, our Flash Fiction Competition Judge Elizabeth Delo will announce this year’s competition winners, and we will celebrate with them as they read their 100 word stories. Following this, Aidan Meighan, artist and author, will read extracts from his beautifully illustrated book, The Folklore of Trees: the fascinating stories behind nature’s guardians.

After a short interval, the audience will be treated to a new collaboration. Multi-instrumentalist Seb Tesouro and Quantock poet Anne Lovejoy have been working together, and the resulting premiere of their combined efforts ‘Quantoxification!’ fuses Anne’s poems and Seb’s musical talent to promise delight for our audience. The evening ends with a comforting story from Watchet’s own storyteller and performance poet, Deanna Payne.
